Wind Vane

This weather vane provides an easy way to determine wind direction for weather studies. The heavy-cast base and sturdy post support a sensitive cone bearing assembly that responds to the slightest wind. Place the “N” in the northern position and read off the direction shown by the pointer. Large red letters identify directions. Measures 6" W x 6" L x 8" H.

Anemometer

Get a direct reading of wind speed without the need to count revolutions with this uniquely designed, handheld or permanently fixed anemometer. As the wind blows harder, the arms move, lifting the reading bar.

Pocket Sling Psychrometer

With recessed psychrometer bulbs to prevent breakage during use. Range of -5° to 50° C in 1° divisions. Red liquid filled. Water reservoir eliminates need to constantly re-wet wick. Carrying case and plastic chart.

Water Cycle Model Activity Set

This three-dimensional demonstrator creates a water cycle as it occurs in nature. A fascinating, ingenious experimental model that actually causes the rain to fall on the terrain, flow down the slopes, form a body of water, then evaporate in a continuous cycle. It also graphically shows distillation of water as it changes to gas. Students can examine the evaporation and condensation process within the plastic model. Study cards encourage hands-on learning. Teacher developed activity notebook also includes a full-color overhead transparency and basic understandings to support classroom activity.

  • Actual samples include: oil shale, tar sand, crude oil, coal, uranium ore, natural biomass and a solar cell.
  • The 24”W x 18”H model also shows comparative trends in energy consumption for nuclear, coal, oil, natural gas and renewable energy.
  • The chart illustrates actual energy consumption for 1980 and 1990 and projected figures for 2000 and 2010.
  • Includes Teacher’s Guide.
Volcano Model

Beautifully detailed strato volcano and composite volcano model. Illustrates the various crusts, lava tube, volcano formation, and step sided formation of cone shape.

Earth History Model

  • This colorful, 3-D model correlates rock layers to geologic time periods.
  • Constructed of durable vinyl, the 23 1/2" W x 24 1/2" H model features 20 replica fossils which students match to appropriate strata.
  • Model illustrates the aquatic and terrestrial life living in the Pre-Cambrian era through the Cenozoic.
  • In addition to eras, periods and years are also indicated on the chart.
  • Includes a detailed Teacher’s Guide with classroom activities.
Geology Models

  • Dispel the puzzling complexity of geological facts with this series of eight detailed geology models.
  • In addition to surface formations, cross-sectioning depicts subsurface structures.
  • Accompanying Teacher’s Guide is numerically keyed to each individual model, allowing focused study of specific features.
  • Each model is 14" x 12" and is sturdy enough for student handling or wall display.

Landform Model Set

Eight separate landform models form a single, 3 ft. x 3 ft., tri-dimensional model of mountains, lakes, rivers, deserts, glaciers, coastlines, canyons, and cultural points of interest. A lesson plan provides a glossary keyed to features on the models, plus question-and-answer exercises and supplementary activities. Also contains a 20-page student workbook.

Landform Demonstration Kit

  • Recreate in your own classroom the geological forces that have shaped the planet.
  • Over 20 activities are included in this kit that will enable your students to develop a thorough understanding of volcanic action, faulting and folding, as well as many other geologic processes.
  • Kit includes demonstration tray; three pieces of flexible foam; three simulated rock structures; an erupting volcano; miscellaneous project materials; comprehensive study Guide.

Plate Tectonics Classroom Project

  • This hands-on project enables students to examine and identify individual rock specimens as a study unit in earth science
  • Each classroom activity project includes: one wood framed reference chart, complete with mounted specimens, 30 student charts (reproductions of the reference chart on heavy card stock), 30 specimen s of each rock represented to be studied and glued on each chart during the activity, one test kit, and the Scott Resoruces’ Rocks and Minerals Study Guide.
  • The evidence supporting the theory of Plate Tectonics is shown on this chart.
  • Rock specimens that illustrate the variety of processes related to the Earth’s dynamic crust are mounted on this 18” X 24” wood framed chart.

Land and Ocean Globe

  • Students discover the intricate patterns of land and water covering the Earth with this 12" diameter globe.
  • Details of land masses and bodies of water are depicted in 3-D raised relief.
  • Ocean sections are covered by clear plastic representing ocean surface.
  • Names of oceans, seas, currents, deep-sea ridges and basins are visible through plastic covering.
  • Illustrated Teacher’s Guide included.
